Stems short-creeping, scales very narrow, dark brown, leaves closely spaced. Blade oblong, ca. 10--25 cm; ultimate segments narrowly elongate-cuneate, often 1--1.5 cm × 0.5--2 mm, papery, apically denticulate especially when sterile. Sori on 1--8 vein endings; indusia erose at distal margin. Spores trilete. 2 n = 76. Calcareous soil, sinks and pinelands; 0 m; Fla.; s Mexico; West Indies in Bahamas, Greater Antilles.
