: Rhizomatous perennial grass to 1 m; blades narrow and stiff, usually pointing up; inflorescence a slender spike 6-20 cm long , 2-3 per node; spikelets 10-16 mm long, 4 to 6-flowered; lemmas acute with a very short awn.
