Flowering stems 5-9 cm. Corollas yellow, orange-glandular. Cypselae 1.5-2 mm, margins with relatively broad ribs. Flowering late spring-mid summer. Rocky ridges and slopes; 0-100 m; Alaska. Subspecies lutea is common on St. Mathew Island and infrequent on surrounding islands and the mainland (Seward Peninsula). It might be confused with Artemisia furcata.
