Fruits as wide as or longer than wide, apex rounded-acute; valves glabrous inside; septum complete; ovules 10-14 per ovary; style 1-2 mm. Flowering Jun. Limestone-clay knolls, in open, parklike meadows; of conservation concern; 2500-2700 m; Ariz. Subspecies kaibabensis is found on the Kaibab Plateau.
